John Ball was appointed Director of the Indianapolis/Marion County Emergency Management Division in August 2006. This system serves as the center of a comprehensive public warning system. Director Ball has also overseen the planning and implementation of a public safety video surveillance system for the City of Indianapolis.

Director Ball serves as chair of the Indianapolis Urban Area Working Group. This group is responsible for development of the Urban Area’s Homeland Security strategy and determining levels of preparedness.
