Colts Players Visit FSA, Encourage Students to Give Back

Each year, millions of Americans donate their time, treasure and talent to the more than 1 million charitable organizations across the country. To celebrate this spirit of giving, National Philanthropy Day was established 24 years ago and is celebrated every year on November 15. Locally, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard issued a proclamation declaring November 15 as National Philanthropy Day in Indianapolis.

To join this celebration and recognize Indiana students who are helping to make a difference in their community, the Indianapolis Colts and four of their players are using their day off from practice to partner with the Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana and the Urban Mission Branch of the YMCA for community service projects at two schools on Tuesday, November 17. Colts players DB Terrail Lambert and DT John Gill visited with Fountain Square Academy students and helped create Christmas ornaments to donate to the Toys for Tots program, which provides holiday gifts for underprivileged youth.

Prior to the Colts arrival, the students also participated in a Learning To Give lesson plan that helped teach them the importance of giving and serving, even at a young age.
