Fountain Square Student Elected to 'Take Over' the Statehouse

Ashley Fisher, a 12th grader at Fountain Square Academy, was elected to the Office of Secretary of State for the Indiana Youth and Government. The Indiana Youth and Government program is a statewide educational program sponsored by the YMCA.

Over the course of her twelve-month position, Ashley will get a chance to write bills, prepare briefs, and role play in her government position. In addition, she will have the opportunity to attend a three-day Model Legislature and Court. The teen delegates "take over" the state house and use the historic halls, chambers, and offices of the real state delegates.
